KYC guide

Everything Sage needs to verify you.

Under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044) and the Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2025 (Act 1154), Sage must verify every client before they trade. Here's exactly what to prepare.

01Two paths

Individual or business?

Pick the path that matches how you’ll trade. The requirements differ, but both are completed in-app.

Individuals (KYC)

Identity

  • Ghana Card (preferred), or valid passport, or driver’s licence.
  • A selfie liveness check taken in the Sage app.

Address

  • Utility bill, bank statement or tenancy agreement dated within the last three months, showing your name and residential address.

Source of funds

  • Occupation and employer details.
  • For higher trading limits: a payslip, employment letter or business income statement.

Businesses (KYB)

Company documents

  • Certificate of Incorporation and Form 3 or equivalent.
  • Company constitution or memorandum and articles.
  • Recent Registrar-General’s Department search or company standing certificate.
  • Board resolution authorising the account and its signatories.

People

  • KYC (as above) for every director, authorised signatory, and beneficial owner holding 10% or more of the company.

Business profile

  • Description of business activities, expected trading volume, and source of funds.
  • Latest audited financials or management accounts (may be requested for enhanced due diligence).
02Enhanced due diligence

When we ask for more.

Sage may request additional documentation where:

  • you are, or are connected to, a Politically Exposed Person (PEP);
  • you trade above your assigned tier limit;
  • your activity triggers a red-flag review under our AML/CFT programme; or
  • a supervisory authority requires it.

See our AML Policy for full details.
